Updates from FPS on our TRU smart plug, awards, our new ePTO in service with Waitrose and our innovations being showcased by InnovateUK
Smart Plugs
Our first Transport Refrigeration Unit (TRU) smart plug started testing at Sainsbury’s distribution centre in Sherburn in North Yorkshire this week. As much as 2/3 of TRU fuel use takes place in depots, so plugging diesel fridges in could avoid a big chunk of the costs and emissions associated with running TRU fleets without replacing the vehicles.
This opportunity is rarely realised in the UK because many sites have power constraints and maintaining infrastructure in depots can be challenging.
Our new smart plug connects to a TRU variant of our Operate platform to allow fleets to meter usage and savings, monitor equipment status and manage loads.
Clean Sweep!
We are delighted to be into double digits with a total of 10 awards nominations across transport innovation, strategy and delivery. You can find out more about which awards our cutting edge Waitrose deployment has been nominated for here
Fridge Power
Our innovative ePTO solution that gets rid of tens kg of expensive batteries is undergoing testing with Waitrose this month and will soon be available to order. Check out this video if you’d like a walk through from James our Chief Engineer.
Showcasing Innovation
We were delighted to have been invited to show case our wireless charging technology and management platform at CENEX CLV2022.
Not tried our interactive planning dashboard yet?
Our dashboards are built on bottom up models of vehicle movements and site energy demand to inform EV transition capital programmes. They give a clear picture of:
EV feasibility
The types of chargers and vehicles required
Cost and emission impacts
Power usage vs capacity
This ensures that EV transitions are fact and data based which can save millions in wasted investment costs.
